i had this problem before (some of you may remember) that i had issues with the bobbin thread coming up to the right sides of the fabric. I did fix the problem with someones suggestion to turn the screw on the bobbin case (which i did), this improved it but when i was using it today to fix up a birthday gift bag for a friend the bobbin thread was coming on top ever so slightly. I don't want to buy i new embroidery machine at this point of time as i am looking at purchasing a serger. I don't want to jeopardize that opportunity for a new embroidery machine.
Please help... I'm no very happy with this bobbin issue again.
Btw i turn to the screw to its tightest, increased upper tension but still see some bobbin thread on top of my work. :(
please help,

I just got my Janome MC 300E and love, love, love it! I'm trying to download designs from the web, though, and I'm having problems. I have the compact flash.

I own a 300e and a few other Janomes too.Personally, I would be very leary of tightening the bobbin screw.
From my experience and reading online forums, the bobbin thread showing on the top, is a problem with the top thread tension....that is no tension or very little . This can be caused by incorrect threading or a piece of thread caught/stuck in the tension disks. ...have read that dental floss pulled back and forward will clear it ???
I note that you are in Australia and wonder if you have taken/asked advice from a Janome trained techie?
If you call your Janome State office, they may be able to advise you where there is a Janome trained techie.
The Melbourne office is always most helpful.
I empthasise with your problem
I hope you find a solution soon

You said you are increasing your upper tension - this is what is pulling your bobbin thread to the surface. You should decrease your upper tension.

When i get a chance to go to my dealer i will ask them about it. They may have a good idea on what to do.

Increased the bobbin tension so i can increase the upper tension thinking it will make a different, but boy was i wrong
I don't know why i'm so pick
before adjusting bobbin tension my upper tension was at 1.5 or so close to 2. but when it does satin stitches it becomes loose. increasing tension helped to increase the tension but even then bobbin thread still come to the top of my embroidery design.

Take the entire machine to the dealer along with a sample of the stitching.
It could be the timing or that you need a new bobbin case.

i'm actually thinking the bobbin case may need to be changed.
i'll embroider another design and see how it turns out. the design i stitched out yesterday was a design built-in to the machine. I'll do another built-in design to confirm my observation (i sound like a scientist with my last sentence )

I had some problems with my 300E initially and my dealer was very helpful but couldn't get it quite right. Finally, we tried a new bobbin case and it has been sewing like a dream ever since. It was not very expensive (can't remember, now, how much) but it was worth it for the end of frustration.Skill: Advanced Beginner

Are you using genuine Janome pre-wound bobbins? I had the 350E and never had to change the tension setting from 3. Then I decided to wind my own bobbins and that's when I had a lot of tension issues with the bobbin thread showing on top. I had to turn my tension dial down to 1 or so and still got bobbin thread showing. I was using what was supposed to be same weight of bobbin thread that comes with the pre-wounds even though I could tell it was a lighter weight thread. I started using the pre-wound Janome bobbins again, set my tension to 3 (factory default) and all my tension problems went away. It continued to sew beautifully until I sold it.------

An embroidery sewing machine is a powerful tool for a craftsperson. Having a separate machine for embroidery allows you to make stitched designs without the need to wrestle with a standard sewing machine or handsew each stitch. The Janome Memory Craft 300e is equipped with preinstalled designs. You also can download premade designs online or create your own. Installing these designs is closely related to moving files on your computer.
Format your memory card, also called a SD flash card, by inserting it into the sewing machine. Select an ATA PC card or a Compact Flash with Type II Adapter. Push the card into the slot in the right side of the sewing machine. The machine will format the card automatically, if it is not already formatted. The card is now ready to use for designs.
Save your design as a JEF file, which is the only file type the Janome 300e can read. To save an image in this format, use a program that can convert files. Search online or contact the sewing machine retailer, if you do not have a program already. To change the file format, open the image of your design in the program. Follow the program's instructions for saving the design as a .jef file. This process usually is completed through the 'Save As' option under the word 'File' from the top left of the program.
Transfer the .jef file to the Embf5 directory on the memory card. If your computer does not have a place to insert your memory card, use an external driver that you can plug in to it. Once the memory card is connected to your computer and you can access it, transfer designs by copying them into the folder labeled 'Embf5.' This location is the only place the sewing machine looks for designs. Copy the designs into this folder on the memory card.
Insert the memory card in the sewing machine and select the image. The Janome 300e will read the Embf5 directory and display your designs. Select the image you want to work with on the machine's LCD screen and begin sewing.
Tip
If your image does not show up after these steps, check the size of the design. The maximum size the 300e can sew in is 5.5-by-7.9 inches. Anything larger will not show up on the machine's screen.
